My story:
Toffee lives with her best friend, Fudge, in a huge outdoor run filled with tunnels, toys, hiding places and plenty of opportunities to play and explore. The two friends love racing after one another, chasing around their run and investigating everything together.
Toffee and Fudge are also incredibly vocal. The moment they spot me approaching with their food, they begin “wheeking”—the wonderfully loud, excited squeals guinea pigs make when they know something delicious is about to arrive. It is almost impossible to believe that such enormous noises can come from two relatively small animals!
Both girls enjoy meeting people and are especially fond of a gentle tickle behind the ears. With their affectionate personalities, enthusiastic conversations and endless excitement about food, Toffee and Fudge are two of the most cheerful members of Wriggly Roadshow.
Did you know?
When guinea pigs become overwhelmed with excitement, they can suddenly leap into the air, twist their bodies and race away before doing it all over again. This joyful behaviour is known as “popcorning” because they look like pieces of popcorn unexpectedly bursting from a hot pan!
Young guinea pigs perform the most dramatic jumps, but happy adults can popcorn too—particularly when exploring a freshly cleaned enclosure, receiving favourite food or playing with a companion.
