What animals will you bring?

For a standard one-hour encounter, you can choose five animals from the selection featured on the Wriggly Roadshow website. Longer sessions may allow for a larger animal line-up, depending on the type of booking and how the experience is organised.  Animals available may include snakes, lizards, frogs, tortoises, tarantulas, insects, millipedes, cockroaches, rats and tenrecs. Your chosen animals will form the planned line-up, although animal welfare and availability must always come first. In the unlikely event that one of your choices cannot attend, a suitable alternative will be arranged.

Question 2

Will everyone get to hold or touch the animals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Everyone who would like to take part will normally have the opportunity to hold or touch each of the animals during the encounter, under direct supervision. Participation is always optional, and nobody will ever be pressured to handle an animal. Scorpions are the exception and are always display-only, so they cannot be held or touched. At birthday parties, tarantula handling is limited to the birthday child and a small number of adults. During larger drop-in events, tarantulas are also display-only.

What ages are Wriggly Roadshow sessions suitable for?

Wriggly Roadshow animal encounters can be adapted for a wide range of ages, from nursery children and birthday parties to secondary schools, colleges, adults and care-home residents.  Birthday experiences are suitable from age two upwards. The pace, language, animal selection and level of participation are adjusted to suit the ages, confidence and needs of the audience.
