My story:
This little leopard gecko was given to me by the owner of a pet shop after he began losing a worrying amount of weight and they were unable to persuade him to eat. Recovering his health was a long process, requiring plenty of patience and careful feeding, but he eventually developed into the fit and healthy gecko he is today.
He now lives in his very own rocky miniature desert. During the daytime, he usually snoozes safely inside one of his caves—but once night falls, his desert comes alive. He emerges to stroll around his territory, investigate new scents, dig through the ground and hunt for insects. His absolute favourite meal is a big, juicy cockroach!
DId you know?
Wild leopard geckos are surprisingly formidable hunters and can even tackle venomous scorpions! Despite facing powerful pincers and a venom-filled sting, leopard geckos are reported to tolerate scorpion stings that would overwhelm many other animals. Their wild menu can also include spiders, centipedes, beetles and occasionally smaller reptiles.
